Though he had a stellar game, Guillermo Vélez could not prevent his team, the MSL Philadelphia Liberty, from losing, 6-5, to the MSL Hollywood Shredders. Vélez hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. MSL Hollywood reliever Ashley Kearney picked up the win to move to 1-0. José Pérez suffered the loss. The Shredders raised their record to 6-3.

The most important at-bat for MSL Hollywood came in the top of the 13th inning. With two out, Su-wu Situ reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run, putting MSL Hollywood up, 6-5.

"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Situ told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
