The MSL New Orleans Voodoo picked up a win at MSL Long Island Ballpark, knocking off the MSL Long Island Lighthouse, 5-1. Starting pitcher Augusto Gómez played a key role in the triumph. The win puts the Voodoo at 11-4, while the Lighthouse drop to 5-10.
Cris Colón, who is tied for 9th in the PMSL in total bases with 32, aided the MSL New Orleans cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth. For the game, the center fielder was 1 for 3.
Colón said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."
