Rainbow Mermaids Win Close Shave, 10-9
The MSL Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids beat the MSL Hollywood Shredders, 10-9, in 12 innings at MSL Northern Virginia Ballpark. Tim Bender, in particular, was impressive. He went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was MSL Northern Virginia reliever Roberto Alegría, now 3-0. The loser was Shi-min Sun. The win elevated the Rainbow Mermaids to 12-5.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 12th. With no one out, Bender hit a fastball from Shi-min Sun for a run-scoring single. The Rainbow Mermaids, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Rainbow Mermaids manager Leslie Brooks.
