Shredders Claim 8-3 Triumph
|
The MSL Hollywood Shredders powered past the MSL Mexico City Blue Demons, 8-3, at MSL Hollywood Ballpark. Jesús Durán provided some of the pop. Shifty went 2-3 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 4 times. Florian Umstaedter, the winner, goes to 3-1. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts over 6.1 innings. Henry Chalcott notched his 1st save of the season.
The Shredders got a lift from first baseman Visa Taipale, who in the bottom of the first stroked a 0-1 fastball to right for a run-scoring single. It was his 3rd hit of the season and put the Shredders ahead, 3-1.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Ricardo López said.
The 'W' lifts MSL Hollywood's record to 14-10.
