Rainbow Mermaids Win Again, 5-4, Extend Streak to 6
|
Led by Roberto Álvarez, the MSL Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids downed the MSL Seattle Rocketeers, 5-4. Álvarez went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Rainbow Mermaids. The winning pitcher was 17-year old right-handed pitcher Boudewijn Vervoort. He tossed 104 pitches over 8 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits. MSL Northern Virginia has now reeled off 6 straight wins.
Álvarez had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 0-1 fastball from Ricardo López, he banged a solo home run to center, giving the Rainbow Mermaids a 5-4 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Álvarez.
"Nice to keep stacking the wins," said Álvarez.
