MSL Northern Virginia Beats MSL Boston, Goes to 18-9
With Scott Perkins leading the charge, the MSL Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids defeated the MSL Boston Patriots, 6-1. Perkins belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Rainbow Mermaids. Urpo Mäkitie went 7.1 innings, allowing no runs on 5 hits. The right-hander, who is tied for 5th in the PMSL in innings pitched with 57.1, struck out 5 and walked 2. With the win, he's now 5-1 this season. The win hiked the MSL Northern Virginia record to 18-9.

Tim Bender had a big run-scoring double for the Rainbow Mermaids in the bottom of the fifth inning. With MSL Northern Virginia leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Kenshin Takahashi and swatted a double to right. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rainbow Mermaids ahead, 2-0.

"It was a good win," said MSL Northern Virginia manager Leslie Brooks. "Not without blemish, but good."
