Rainbow Mermaids Lose Contest, 3-2
|
Starting pitcher Rubén Rodríguez gave the MSL Buffalo White Walkers a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the MSL Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 3-2, at MSL Northern Virginia Ballpark. Rodríguez, now 3-4, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Gerardo Trevino closed the game out for MSL Buffalo, earning his 1st save.
MSL Buffalo used the timely hitting of António Garza to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the White Walkers on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Garza expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
The triumph puts MSL Buffalo at 17-13 for the season.
