Patriots Clip Rainbow Mermaids, 7-6
The MSL Boston Patriots topped the MSL Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 7-6, in USPL Mexican Summer League action at MSL Northern Virginia Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to MSL Boston catcher and Lakewood, Colorado, native Bob Baird. Randy Hood picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-4. Sean Littrell was tagged with the loss. Derrick Melis wrapped it up, recording his 2nd save.

Baird contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for MSL Boston in the top of the ninth. With his team trailing 6-5, Baird took a fastball from Sean Littrell and stroked the home run to center. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Patriots to leap in front, 7-6.

"We took home the win," said Baird. "What's not to like?"

The 9th-place Patriots bumped their record to 15-19.
