The Kingfishers grabbed a win, 3-2, at MSL Toledo Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from MSL Toledo pitcher Julian Pomfret. Pomfret went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Kelile Sassi picked up the save for MSL Pittsburgh, his 9th of the year. The 5th-place Kingfishers now sit at 18-19.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Toyoharu Baba? The 17-year old center fielder Baba stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put MSL Pittsburgh up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
Baba said his team "played with determination."
