MSL Northern Virginia Drops Another One, 3-1
|
The MSL Toronto Thunder locked up a win at MSL Thunder Ballpark, knocking off the MSL Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 3-1. On the mound for MSL Toronto was right-hander Jorge Martínez. He played a major role in the triumph. Martínez got the win, improving to 7-3. He gave up 1 hit and walked 3 over 7 innings. He allowed no runs. The Rainbow Mermaids, now 20-17, have lost 6 straight.
Carlos Burgos had a big solo home run for the Thunder in the bottom of the fourth inning. With MSL Toronto leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from Daniel Cruz, who is tied for 10th in the PMSL in innings pitched with 74.1, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Thunder on top, 3-1.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Burgos said.
