MSL New Orleans Earns 2-1 Win
|
MSL Northern Virginia wasted a solid 7.2-inning effort from starting pitcher Mario Espinosa, losing to MSL New Orleans, 2-1, at MSL Northern Virginia Ballpark. Jimmy Granum claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. German Lyadov nailed down his 4th save.
MSL New Orleans used a clutch hit from Stefan Lundgren to snatch the win. The shortstop belted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Voodoo ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Lundgren.
The Voodoo now have a record of 18-24 with the win over MSL Northern Virginia.
