Tight Tilt Goes to Thunder, 2-1
|
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the MSL Toronto Thunder and MSL Toledo Stingers.
The MSL Toronto Thunder topped the MSL Toledo Stingers, 2-1, in USPL Mexican Summer League action at MSL Thunder Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of MSL Toronto pitcher Vic Halliwell. The winner was Halliwell. He threw 6.2 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Julian Pomfret. The save went to Hirokichi Kato, his 4th this season.
Gerardo Ramos had a big run-scoring double for the Thunder in the bottom of the first inning. With MSL Toronto leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Julian Pomfret, who is tied for 10th in the PMSL in wins with 5, and swatted a double to left. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thunder ahead, 2-0.
"No disrespect to the other team," said MSL Toronto manager Jake Grant. "But it's nice to get an easy win."
The win puts MSL Toronto at 23-20 this season.
