Lakers Earn Win with Late Rally
Crowds lined up early in front of MSL Echo Park Ballpark, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2062 USSL Mexican Summer League season. On the mound was José Aguilar for the visiting MSL Vancouver Grey Wolves and Gary Larsen for the hometown MSL Echo Park Lakers. In a spirited contest, the Lakers pulled out the win, defeating the Grey Wolves by the score of 3-2. Especially impressive was José Aguilar.

The decisive blow was delivered by Phil Edney in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 18-year old right-handed pitcher José Barticer to win the game for MSL Echo Park. The home crowd went nuts.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said MSL Echo Park manager Andrew Wilson.
