Mockingbirds Pull Out Late Win, 3-2
|
MSL Mississippi turned a good performance from starting pitcher Bubba Orr into a 3-2 triumph over the MSL Long Island Lighthouse in 10 innings at MSL Long Island Ballpark. Mike McCauley closed the door for MSL Mississippi, picking up his 3rd save of the year. The loss drops the Lighthouse to 2-4.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Naofumi Shibutani came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing MSL Long Island pitcher Chris McElroy, he hit a 1-0 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting MSL Mississippi on top, 3-2.
Shibutani called the win "a collective effort."
