MSL Oakland Loss Tarnishes Fine Game by Martínez
|
MSL Oakland center fielder Jorge Martínez was sensational. He went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. MSL Dayton beat the Oaks, 8-4. The winning pitcher was 18-year old right-handed pitcher Tom Schaefer. He tossed 110 pitches over 8.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits. The defeat makes MSL Oakland 9-2.
Dolf Asmus, who is tied for 2nd in the 3MSL in doubles with 6, took MSL Oakland hurler Georges Boulet deep in the top of the second. His grand slam home run put the Dirty Reds on top, 5-1. In all, Asmus had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said MSL Dayton manager Nick Hoskins.
