Bowties Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The MSL Buckhead Bowties did just enough to secure a victory over the MSL Vancouver Grey Wolves, 5-4, in 10 innings at MSL Vancouver Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Scott Goff. Curt McNeil, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 3.2 innings. MSL Buckhead is 7th in the 3L MSL with a record of 6-7.
MSL Buckhead needed the clutch hitting of Júlio Cruz to notch the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Bowties on top, 5-3. For the game, Cruz had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said MSL Vancouver manager Roy Bagnall. "But we decided not to take it."
