MSL Cape Coral Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The MSL Cape Coral Hurricanes beat the MSL Detroit Rock City by a score of 7-3. MSL Cape Coral second baseman Emílio Vásquez deserved the lion's share of the credit. Vásquez was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Hurricanes. The win went to George Fretwell in relief, making him now 1-0. Gerardo Ojeda took the loss for MSL Detroit. MSL Cape Coral currently is in 9th place in the 3L MSL at 6-8.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Vásquez hit a fastball from Chong-yee Meng for a grand slam home run. The Hurricanes, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
Vásquez described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
