Northern Lions BC Rally Late to Nip Hurricanes
|
The MSL Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC took MSL Cape Coral pitcher Hanihani Kiele's best shot and still were able to claim a win at MSL Cape Coral Ballpark. The final score had MSL Thunder Bay getting past the Hurricanes, 5-4. Kiele went 8 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 9. Javier Peña earned the save for MSL Thunder Bay, his 1st of the year. The 10th-place Northern Lions BC are now 6-9, the Hurricanes 7-8.
Stephen Bence, who is tied for 5th in the 3MSL in triples with 1, contributed to the MSL Thunder Bay win with a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 runs batted in.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said MSL Cape Coral manager Joe Morris.
