The MSL Echo Park Lakers beat the MSL Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 7-6, in part because of catcher Ron Cotton. He was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. With the win, MSL Echo Park raised its record to 6-4.

The decisive blow was delivered by Phil Edney in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 16-year old left-handed pitcher Kelile Sassi to win the game for MSL Echo Park. The home crowd went nuts.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Edney said in his postgame press conference.
