The Las Vegas Flamingos beat the Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 7-2, at The Strip. Las Vegas right fielder Lorenzo Gutiérrez had an outstanding performance. He went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs. Picking up the win was Derek Carter. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. The right--hander struck out 3 and walked 3. Their 26-35 record puts the Flamingos 9th in the Silver League.
With Las Vegas leading 3-0 in the bottom of the first, Gutiérrez hit a 2-run single off Pittsburgh hurler Lester Creed. It was the 3rd hit of the season for Gutiérrez and put his team ahead, 5-0.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Gutiérrez.
