Down to Defeat Goes Echo Park, 5-3
|
The Ft. Worth Cattlemen besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Echo Park designated hitter Ángel Miranda by beating the Lakers, 5-3, at The Cattle Pen. Miranda went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2. Ft. Worth reliever Tommy Huber was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Naohiro Ueno. The Cattlemen now own a record of 32-30.
Sasha Mamchenko cracked a home run off Naohiro Ueno in the bottom of the sixth. His 2-run blast put the Cattlemen on top, 5-3. In all, Mamchenko had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Ft. Worth manager Scott Thompson.
