MSL St. Louis beat MSL Panama City at MSL Panama City Ballpark, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to left fielder Jason King. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Alberto Germán was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 1 strikeout. Moeaktola Alkira earned the save, his 4th, for the Coeur.
MSL St. Louis needed the clutch hitting of Xiao-peng Zhu to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Coeur on top, 6-4. For the game, Zhu had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Zhu said in reaction to the win.
Today's win puts MSL St. Louis at 10-10, while MSL Panama City falls to 8-12.
