Stingers Win, 6-1, Versus Mockingbirds
|
At Pacesetter Park, the Memphis Mockingbirds and Toledo Stingers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Toledo pitcher Kyle Chambers did his part in helping his team defeat the Memphis Mockingbirds, 6-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Chambers, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Thaddeus Alambra locked down his 1st save.
Daniel Webster hit a 3-run home run off Juan Cervantes in the bottom of the third, which put the Stingers ahead, 3-0. In addition to the homer, Webster had 1 double, while going 2 for 3.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Chambers. "Successful pitchers do it."
The win lifts Toledo to a record of 9-8.
