Rock City Pick Up 3-2 Win Against Memphis
|
Starting pitcher J.R. Snow gave the Detroit Rock City a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Memphis Mockingbirds, 3-2, at Magnolia Park. Snow, the winner, moves to 3-4. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 2 walks. Daniel Haney recorded the save for Detroit, his 15th of the season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Kobbe van Houwelingen? The Detroit designated hitter had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Rock City on top, 2-0. For the game, van Houwelingen had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I was a little disappointed," said Memphis manager Beau Carsten. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
Detroit is now 23-40.
