MSL Panama City Ballpark was the site of a competitive game between the MSL Panama City Piranhas and MSL Charleston Battery.
The MSL Charleston Battery beat the MSL Panama City Piranhas, 3-2. MSL Charleston pitcher and Shizunai, Japan, native Sosuke Saito led the way. Saito, the winner, moves to 3-4. He threw 7.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 4 walks. The save was credited to Sang-keun Yi, his 6th.
MSL Charleston used a well-timed hit by Roberto Ornelas to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Battery ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Ornelas. "You've got to get results."
The win makes MSL Charleston 13-12.
