Lighthouse Beat Rocketeers, 4-2
|
MSL Long Island picked up a win at MSL Long Island Ballpark, bumping off the MSL Seattle Rocketeers, 4-2. Pitcher Guillermo Contreras was a major reason the Lighthouse emerged victorious. In 7.1 innings, Contreras surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The save was credited to Svatopluk Vejvoda, his 3rd.
The Lighthouse got an important contribution from third baseman Dermott Hewitt, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a fastball into left for a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Lighthouse ahead, 4-2.
After the game, MSL Long Island manager Austin Case applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
MSL Seattle now has a 5-game losing streak.
