Piranhas Absorb 3-2 Loss at Magnolia Park
|
The Memphis Mockingbirds picked up a win at Magnolia Park, knocking off the Panama City Piranhas, 3-2. On the mound for Memphis was right-hander Salvador López. He played a key role in the triumph. López yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 5-2. Marvin Velásquez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities.
Butch Collins, who is tied for 6th in the SL with a .315 batting average, took Panama City hurler Guy Riggs deep in the bottom of the third. His 3-run home run put the Mockingbirds on top, 3-0. In all, Collins had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Collins told a Memphis Gazette reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
Memphis now has a record of 32-32 with the win.
