The MSL Kingston Ponies beat the MSL Echo Park Lakers, 3-1, at MSL Echo Park Ballpark. MSL Kingston second baseman Vicente Cruz had an outstanding performance. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Scott Bates earned the save, his 4th. MSL Kingston has now won 3 straight, while the Lakers have lost 3 in a row.
With MSL Kingston trailing 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Cruz hit a fastball from Mo Bao for a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Ponies ahead, 3-1.
Cruz called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
