MSL Northern Virginia Beats MSL Las Vegas, 5-2
|
MSL Northern Virginia and MSL Las Vegas duked it out and the Rainbow Mermaids came out victorious.
MSL Northern Virginia rode a decent outing from starter Daniel Orr to victory over the MSL Las Vegas Flamingos. The final score was 5-2. Orr, now 5-4, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Augusto Luenas earned the save for MSL Northern Virginia, his 5th of the year.
MSL Northern Virginia used the bat of Ron Cooper to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said MSL Northern Virginia skipper Leslie Brooks.
After today's action, MSL Northern Virginia sits at 16-21; MSL Las Vegas slips to 18-19.
