84s Pin 6-4 Loss on Las Vegas
|
Las Vegas first baseman Julián Sorondo had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-4, to Greenville at The Strip. Sorondo was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Thaddeus Alambra, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 5-4. Jon Phillips was credited with the save for Greenville, his 13th of the season.
Greenville used a clutch hit from Darren Gordam to get the win. The shortstop drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the 84s ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"Good, blue-collar kind of win," said 84s manager Jordan Smith.
At 31-34, the 84s are currently 8th in the Silver League.
