Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Long Island Lighthouse and Las Vegas Flamingos.
Long Island Lighthouse starter Ken Harding was on his game, helping his team beat the Las Vegas Flamingos, 4-2. Harding picked up the win for Long Island, going 8.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 7-4. Larry Alexander nailed down his 16th save.
Joe Patrick had a big run-scoring double for the Lighthouse in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Long Island leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Akil bin Abbud and swatted a double to left. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Lighthouse ahead, 2-0.
"Ken was dictating to their hitters," said Long Island manager Michael Esposito.
Their 37-28 record puts the Lighthouse 4th in the Silver League.
