Battery Squelch Lakers Offense in Shutout Win
The MSL Charleston Battery got a good effort from starter Rush Moore in defeating the MSL Echo Park Lakers at MSL Echo Park Ballpark. The final score was 4-0. Moore, now 7-1, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Picking up the save was 17-year old left-handed pitcher Armando Torres.

Bill Vázquez had a big 2-run home run for the Battery in the top of the sixth inning. With MSL Charleston leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Kurt Morse, who is tied for 5th in the 3MSL in strikeouts with 70, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Battery on top, 3-0.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Vázquez.

The Battery, at 26-14, have now won 4 straight.
