Lighthouse Get Clutch Win, 6-5
|
MSL Long Island Ballpark played host to some dramatic action.
Though he had a terrific game, Noel Langdon could not prevent his team, the MSL Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, from absorbing a loss. MSL Long Island won the game, 6-5. Langdon was 3-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. Dou-guan Li earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-1.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 5-5, 18-year old shortstop Lanakila Putupu won it for MSL Long Island. With the bases loaded, Putupu hit a first pitch splitter from Andrés Domínguez for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 6-5 win.
"This game had its share of tense moments," Putupu said, postgame.
The Lighthouse win now puts them at 13-29.
