Mockingbirds Bump Off Oaks, 4-2
|
The Mississippi Mockingbirds stymied the Oakland Oaks, 4-2, at The Oak Grove. Ai-de Lau had a good day at the plate. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for Mississippi. Teika Fukuda picked up the win with 7.2 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 9 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 4-7. Jerry Collins was credited with the save for Mississippi, his 17th of the season.
With two out in the top of the eighth, Juan Barrón had a game-changing hit. The Mockingbirds second baseman slammed a run-scoring single off Amin Yahouse, making the score 4-2, Mississippi.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Barrón told the Mississippi Bulletin.
With this game in the books, Mississippi is 35-30, Oakland 27-38.
