Kingfishers Handed 6-4 Loss
|
Due in large part to left fielder Severiano Barbado, the MSL Philadelphia Liberty sunk the MSL Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 6-4. Barbado was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. Denis Teissier was credited with the save for MSL Philadelphia, his 7th of the season. The Liberty saw their win-loss record go to 11-15. At the same time, the Kingfishers fell to 17-9.
In the bottom of the sixth, MSL Philadelphia shortstop Donald Downing gave his team the lead. With no one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Pizza hit his 6th home run of the year. MSL Pittsburgh pitcher Vicente Pérez surrendered it. With that, the Liberty jumped in front, 6-4.
"We're trying to go out there and win games," Barbado told the MSL Philadelphia Herald, "and we played pretty well tonight."
