Lighthouse Earn Late Win
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the MSL Long Island Lighthouse and the MSL Baltimore Bullets, Darryl Nixon, who is tied for 3rd in the SMSL in strikeouts with 52, was the difference-maker. The MSL Long Island right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win in 10 innings. John Reed snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 2 innings. He's now 2-5 on the season. At 12-16, the Lighthouse claim 8th place in the SL MSL.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Felipe Hernández? The 19-year old center fielder Hernández stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put MSL Long Island up, 2-1. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Hernández told the MSL Long Island News.
