Billy Goats Use Late Score to Top Piranhas, 4-3
|
MSL Colorado parlayed a decent outing from starter Tuomi Lae into a solid win over the MSL Panama City Piranhas. The final score was 4-3. Lae, the winner, moves to 4-1. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 1 walk. Carl Cook earned save number 7 this season.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Francisco Gonzáles came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing MSL Panama City pitcher Simon Gorman, he hit a 1-1 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting MSL Colorado on top, 4-3.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Cody Blackburn.
MSL Colorado sits in third place in the SL MSL at 19-13.
