Kingfishers Squelch Pandas Offense in Shutout Win
|
At MSL Pittsburgh Ballpark, the MSL Montana Pandas and MSL Pittsburgh Kingfishers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The MSL Pittsburgh Kingfishers, behind a great outing from Joachim Ruttman, who is tied for 10th in the SMSL with a 2.65 ERA, defeated the MSL Montana Pandas, 3-0, at MSL Pittsburgh Ballpark. Ruttman yielded no runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3. His record improves to 5-4. Humphrey Weegerink notched his 9th save of the season.
The Kingfishers got an important contribution from designated hitter António Pérez, who in the bottom of the third hit a fastball to left-center for a run-scoring double. It was his 4th double of the season and put the Kingfishers ahead, 2-0.
"I'm just trying to make sure I'm focused for each and every pitch," said Ruttman.
With the win, MSL Pittsburgh upped its record to 19-16.
