Liberty Earn 5-2 Home Win
|
The MSL Philadelphia Liberty converted a terrific effort from starter Bill Griggs into a win over the MSL Colorado Billy Goats at MSL Liberty Ballpark. The Liberty won the game by a final score of 5-2. Griggs yielded 2 runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. His record improves to 11-3. The triumph puts MSL Philadelphia at 32-14 for the season.
Harry Campbell had a big 3-run home run for the Liberty in the bottom of the fifth inning. With MSL Philadelphia leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 17-year old right-handed pitcher Ding-bong Ren and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Liberty on top, 5-0.
"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Griggs.
