With scoring opportunities rare, the Mockingbirds had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when shortstop Alberto López hit a solo home run. The home run came off Eric Talley and made the score 1-0, Mockingbirds. López was 1 for 2 with a home run.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said Dayton manager David Dodds.
