Despite a great performance by Detroit third baseman Juan Martínez, the Ft. Worth Cattlemen defeated the Rock City by the score of 5-3 at The Cattle Pen. Martínez went 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles. Joe Jenkins snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 1.1 innings. He's now 4-3 on the season. The 7th-place Cattlemen improved to 38-38.

Had Atticus Sappington not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Sappington hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Cattlemen.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Sappington. "And not try to do too much."
