Grey Wolves Edge Patriots 2-1 to Open R3
|
The Tournament of Champions got off to a quiet start today, with the traveling Vancouver Grey Wolves taking a low-scoring 2-1 win over the host Boston Patriots. Vancouver right-hander Pat Butler was marvelous at Dunkin Donuts Park. The Grey Wolves now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Vancouver used a well-timed hit by Marcos Janero to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Grey Wolves ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Janero. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Dunkin Donuts Park in Boston.
