Harris, Rocks Take Dramatic Game 1 for 1-0 Series Lead
|
The Plymouth Rocks started the 3L AAA Championship in dramatic fashion, stealing Game 1 from the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys in a walk-off in the 10th inning. Plymouth took the 3-2 win thanks in large part to a good day from starter Ron Harris. The right-hander threw 7.0 innings allowing 1 run in the win, which gave the Rocks a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-3 series.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Plymouth left fielder Pablo Flores, facing Micheal Bly, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Rocks the 3-2 win.
After the game, Plymouth manager Gerald Clark applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Plymouth Quarry in Plymouth.
