Hudsonville Draws First Blood in PL R Championchip With 7-5 Win
The Hudsonville Flanderses slipped past the Philadelphia Liberty U-21 by the score of 7-5 at Hudsonville Park in the first game of the PL R Championchip. Flanderses had to overcome a strong outing from Liberty U-21 starting right-hander Walt Jackson, who threw 5.2 innings allowing 4 runs. With a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series, the Flanderses will have two chances to close out the Liberty U-21.

Adam Paynter was a prime factor in the win for the Flanderses. In the bottom of the fourth with two out, the 18-year old center fielder hit a 2-run double. He went 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.

"This was a nice win for us," said Paynter. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hudsonville Park in Hudsonville.
