Raucous Ballpark of Liberty Crowd Propels Liberty U-21 to 5-2 Victory; Series Tied at 1
|
The Philadelphia Liberty U-21 got a desperately needed win against the Tijuana Toros to move into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-3 SL R Championship. The star of the 5-2 win at Ballpark of Liberty was Philadelphia right-hander Nick Jacobs, who was 3-4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 3. The Liberty U-21 and Toros will next meet in a decisive Game 3.
Shannon Fowler had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for the Liberty U-21. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Philadelphia trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run double.
"This was a nice win for us," said Fowler. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
The next game is set to be played for Monday, September 11th , 2062 at Toros Ballpark in Tijuana.
