PL A Championship Game 1 Victory for Park and Eugene

Their bats were silent and Eugene had a rookie on the mound. No problem.
On a day when the Vandals struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 22-year-old starter Shane Park. The right-hander quieted the Chicago Tula at The Riot Zone to help Eugene take the 3-2 decision and seize a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-3 PL A Championship.
Had Joe Oliver not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Oliver hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Vandals.
Eugene manager Milton Mathews commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Riot Zone in Eugene.
