Visiting Kingfishers Beat Liberty, 6-3
|
The Pittsburgh Kingfishers picked up a win at Liberty Park, taking down the Philadelphia Liberty, 6-3. Starting pitcher Xavier Martínez was a big reason why. Ernest Cooley was credited with the save for Pittsburgh, his 4th of the season. Pittsburgh raised its record to 42-36 with the win.
Dave Hennessey had a big 2-run home run for the Kingfishers in the top of the fourth inning. With Pittsburgh leading 4-2 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Marcus Rollock and punished it. The result was his 17th home run of the season, which put the Kingfishers on top, 6-2.
"We did a lot of really good things and it was a good win," said Kingfishers manager Tyler Johnson.
