Brass Sweep Redlegs
|
It was a glorious moment for Brass fans today as Baton Rouge claimed the 2058 PL AAA Championship title with a 3-2 victory at Brass Field.
Jubilant Baton Rouge players swamped each other on the diamond after completing a dominant sweep of the Sacramento Redlegs, as chants of "Thank you, Brass" reverberated all around the ballpark.
In the losing dugout, sadness reigned. Redlegs skipper Luis Ríos told reporters it was "hard to describe" the feeling of losing in the PL AAA Championship.
"Your heart is heavy, you are hurting -- it's a very difficult time," he said. "And to be swept is embarrassing. You just want to forget it ever happened."
For the Baton Rouge Brass, it was a season to remember. They finished the regular season with a record of 69-33, good enough for first place in the Premier AAA. Then they topped it off by winning the PL AAA Championship 2-0.
