The Flint Crush powered past the visiting Greenport Harbor Whales, 5-4, in the opener of the 3L R Championship at Flint Park. Greenport designated hitter Budharatna Rekha went 1-3 with a triple and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the losing squad. The Crush now lead the series 1-0.

Florante Berbasa's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 3rd and the game tied, 4-4. The Flint pinch hitter hit a run-scoring double off Dan McFarland to put the Crush up.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Berbasa.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Flint Park in Flint.
