Miners Edge Highlanders, 4-3, to Open R1
|
One game in and the SL AA Championship is already looking exhausting.
The Marquette Miners and the Asheville Highlanders needed 11 innings to settle Game 1, with the Miners finally taking the 4-3 victory at Asheville Park. Excelling in the win was Marquette pitcher Puhi Paselio, who threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The Miners and Highlanders are playing a best-of-3 series.
Marquette used the timely hitting of Arturo Carrión to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Miners on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm happy we won," said Paselio. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Asheville Park in Asheville.
