Gillespie Blasts Atoms, Fighting Imps Take Game 1, 12-10
Ithaca third baseman Chris Gillespie rose to the occasion at Atoms Field, leading the Fighting Imps to a Game 1 victory over the Bethesda Atoms. Gillespie was 4-6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 5 as the Fighting Imps won, 12-10, to seize a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 PL AA Championship.

A key moment came with one out in the top of the seventh. That's when Gillespie hit a fastball from Su-min Kim for a run-scoring double, putting Ithaca up, 9-7.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Gillespie.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Atoms Field in Bethesda.
